Ice cream prices have doubled in a single month amid inflation in Argentina
According to Reuters
Report, this increase
in prices is due to the result of the primary election in which a first-place
candidate is actually an anti-establishment person. The owner of a convenience
store in Buenos Aires shared an updated list of prices he received from
suppliers this week, which showed a 60
percent increase in the prices of salty condiments, sodas, and ice cream
since the end of July.
Primary Election
The store owner said
these price hikes were due to a primary election result. This has further
stimulated the rapid devaluation of money
and the subsequent rise in interest rates. Reuters analyzed and checked prices
from a major national supplier and found that listings recorded an average
increase of 18 percent between July 26 and August 15.
Surprise price List
Buenos Aires convenience
store owner Ernesto Acuna was surprised at the price list from his supplier of
snacks, condiments, soda, and ice cream this week was surprised to learn that
some items had gone up 60 percent since the end of July. There is an
increase in prices. And this increase in prices is due to the elections.
Argentina has become a major challenge to avoid inflation, where the inflation
rate is 113 percent. Econa recorded increases of 35 percent and then 50 percent
after two weeks. He said that an ice cream that previously
used to cost 1,000 pesos, now its price has doubled, he added, adding that
kiosk mini-store owners like him don't know how to talk.
Assess Prices
Reuters contacted a
large-store supplier for an analysis to better assess prices. A huge increase
was noted in the products of many companies
till July 25, while the prices of some items did not change. However, an
increase has been noted in ice cream and desserts, however, a distinct increase
has been noted in different brands of ice cream.
Wholesale Market
The analysis shows that
the wholesale market saw sharp volatility this week and prices continued to
rise, leading to a rise in inflation, the worst hyperinflation
in Argentina since the 1980s. Inflation has been recorded. From the list of
prices that was received, it is known in which direction the market is going at
the moment, and in which direction the general market trend is. Acuna is facing
a shortage. It is particularly noticeable that the products
that are exported have decreased significantly. However, this increase has been
observed since the primary election.
Little things to Car Tire all become Expensive
Everything from
cleaning products to car tires has become very expensive. The sale offers which
were offered on normal days have also been stopped.
Another convenience store owner, Juan
Pagallo Pabco Spagnolo, a 46-year-old man, said Wednesday's inventory was more
reasonable after an initial increase of 40%-50% on Mondays and Tuesdays
compared to last month. Items on the list were 15 to 25 percent more expensive.
