Trisheela Gurung
The Nepali singer who was banned from singing the song "Milli" at the opening ceremony of the Asia Cup
When the Asia Cup started in Pakistan on August 30, the thing that was trending in Pakistan more than the opening ceremony of the event was the Nepali singer Trishla Gurung. Dressed in a white sari, Trishla Gurung performed at the opening ceremony along with Pakistani singer Aima Baig. The public response and debate received by Pakistanis after this performance has been described by Tarsheela as “unexpected”.
Conversation with BBC
She said in a conversation with BBC Nepali that his followers are increasing with every passing minute (after the performance in Pakistan). Receiving reactions and messages on videos. I find it all incredible. I cannot describe it in words. She believes that most of the people who responded to his performance were Pakistanis.
Journey to recent fame and popularity
Trisheela said that Pakistanis seem eager to take pictures and shake hands with her in the internet world and in real life. However, this journey to recent fame and popularity has not been easy for Trishela Gurung, but she is here. Various confusions had to be overcome to arrive. Trishla was scheduled to attend an event in Mustang, Nepal on August 30 and was paid in advance to sing at the event. She said she was thinking about what song to sing there. However, in mid-August he received an offer to "sing at the opening ceremony of the Asia Cup" and was asked various questions in the message. It took time to determine whether the messages were actually sent by the event organizers or not. After the confirmation, I realized that this was a really big offer.
Not an Immediate Decision
However, Trishila Gurung could not make an immediate decision as the promises made in connection with the big event in Nepal and the advance money taken were making him think. She thought about his fans in Nepal who bought tickets to the event because of his presence and was excited about it. There was not much time, so he told the organizers of a festival in Nepal's tourist district of Mustang about his predicament. Ultimately, he decided to go to Pakistan because he was advised to 'choose an opportunity not to be repeated.
Event organizers
Trisheela says that initially, the event organizers were nervous because an artist not being present at the event at the last minute is very difficult from an administrative point of view. But later he told me that it would be appropriate to represent Nepal in Pakistan. The organizers of the opening ceremony, Trans Group of Pakistan, asked Trisheela Gurung to compose a “national song” for the opening ceremony of the Asia Cup. Instead of the national anthem, she was asked to sing a song that evoked the spirit of the nation. This reflects Trisheela's first thought of singing a song of her own. The song, which has over eleven million views on YouTube, features her voice, lyrics, and music. She says, "I didn't want to promote my song." I felt that all Nepalis could feel united by this platform. Thirsheela Gurung then chose a song called 'Ratu R Chandra Surya Jangi Nishan Hamara.
Ratu Aur Chandra Suriya
At Trisheela's insistence, Star Network allowed “Ratu Aur Chandra Suriya” to be aired on the condition that it would not be aired live by their channel. She sang the song before the ceremony began. The video of the song is currently trending on Facebook and other social networks. She happily shares that 'talking with respect goes a long way. Pakistanis are very hospitable. They have a sense of belonging. His conversation and words in Urdu language are very sweet. Like the food here. She has visited many countries for performances.
In the cuisine of Pakistan
She said that he did not find food to his taste in these places but she found his identity in the cuisine of Pakistan. Trisheela Gurung, who is making a name for herself in music, is a doctor by profession. She is from Nepal. Raised in the eastern city of Dharan and completed his higher education in Kathmandu. She shares her compositions and covers songs through her YouTube channel. He also did playback singing in various Nepali films.
