Although the number of new electric cars sold during these seven months climbed dramatically, it still fell far short of sales of petrol and diesel automobiles. What are the numbers? Volkswagen, situated in the German city of Wolfsburg, registered a record number of electric cars between the start of this year and the end of July.

Volkswagen, with headquarters in the German city of Wolfsburg, initially registered 41,475 electric vehicles. Tesla, in contrast, sold 40,289 automobiles in Germany. Keep in mind that Tesla solely produces electric automobiles.

Tesla surpassed Volkswagen or VW for the first six months of the year, and overall Tesla will have the most electric vehicles in Germany throughout 2022, according to data from the German KBA, or Federal Motor Transport Authority. German automakers have also occupied the third, fourth, and fifth spots in terms of electric car sales over the first seven months. Mercedes came in third with 20,613 registrations, followed by Audi in fourth with 16,786.
